The Family Therapy Institute is currently accepting applications for Associate Marriage Family Therapists (AMFT) and/or Associate Clinical Social Workers (ACSW.) The positions are paid and range from 12-20 hours per week. In addition to the required individual and group supervision, associates joining FTI are given the rare opportunity to observe advanced clinicians conducting family therapy, couples therapy and running groups or classes. Our senior staff are skilled in weaving and integrating models to tailor our assessment and treatment to the needs of our clients.
FTI has been on the cutting edge of therapy models since its founding in 1980. In that time, the Institute has sponsored workshops with luminaries such as Virginia Satir, Charles Fishman and others from Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, John Gottman, Esther Perez, Monica McGoldrick,, James Alexander, Ron Taffel and Carlos Sluzki to name only a few. We sponsored workshops with spiritual/meditation teachers such as Ram Dass, Dan and Tara Goldman, and Buddhist psychiatrist Mark Epstein. Associates will have the opportunity to watch videotapes of these masters that are the sole property of the Institute.
FTI’s supervision is intensive since we typically have only two to four associates at any given time working with our small, close-knit staff. Over the course of a year or more, Associates will be competent and accomplished in an integrative systemic model of therapy whether working with individuals, couples or families. We foster the use of evidence-based skills and approaches such as CBT, EMDR, parent education and conflict resolution. Applicants with interest and experience in directive and short-term models is a plus.
Our staff meetings (Thursday’s 12-2pm) and group supervision (Tuesday’s 10am-12pm) are mandatory and held every other week alternately.
Therapists who are interested should send a cover letter and resume to info@ftisb.org.
