Founded in 1979, the Family Therapy Institute has been at the forefront of transforming therapy through pioneering work with an integrative systems-based model as our therapeutic foundation. Since then, we have become known for the quality of staff and services, for our warm and welcoming setting, and for leadership in promoting and providing innovative treatment models backed by solid research.
Our staff itself is “a family.” We work in a collaboratively and are committed to our own ongoing learning—often utilizing each other as co-therapists, as mutual supervisors, and as a coordinated treatment team. We believe that this allows us to provide a higher level of service to our consumers and at the same time makes our work more intrinsically satisfying.

Because we believe that healthy loving families form the foundation of a kind and just society, we see individuals and ourselves as an inseparable part of a dynamic whole. We focus on present family interactions, past family influences, and help clients evolve into kinder and more loving connections with each other.
We’ve been trained by the best! As an Institute for the past forty-five years, we’ve expanded our own training and provided continuing education to thousands of other therapists— cutting edge forms of treatment from the most prominent therapists from around the world.
