Treatment Philosophy & Approach
I meet you with warmth and curiosity to help unpack recurring challenges, hurt relationships, or disruptive behaviors and develop tools that foster a healthier life. I work with your needs, hopes, and goals around relationships, grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, spiritual struggles, school and work performance, and exploration for personal growth and self-actualization. My theoretical approach is derived from ecopsychology, systems thinking and family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, existential and compassion focused therapy.
Professional & Volunteer Experience
Outside my work as a therapist, I have worked as a ranch hand, a high school English teacher, and a coach for children’s mountain biking. I continue to volunteer at a Waldorf-inspired forest school.
Specialties & Areas of Expertise
I specialize in working with families and couples, trained and practiced with expert veterans at the Family Therapy Institute of Santa Barbara. I work with individuals–from tweenhood and up–pursuing self growth, depth work, and recovery from hardship, trauma, and addiction. I have training and experience treating trauma from the first year or two of life, especially within the family dynamic using the Early Trauma Protocol.
Personal Life
At home, my partner and I, with our two children, strive to live a holistic, value-driven life full of connection to the people and place around us. I follow passions in animal husbandry, natural building, gardening, cycling, and exploring the backcountry within California.
